2025 Stetson Law Review Symposium
Prosecutorial Independence and White Collar Crime
Stetson University College of Law
May 14, 2024
Call for Papers
Abstract Submission Deadline: July 1, 2024
Stetson Law Review’s 2025 Symposium is scheduled for Friday, March 28, 2025, at Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida. This Symposium focuses on current trends and controversies in both prosecutorial independence and white collar crime.
Prosecutors play a vital role in the administration of justice. The power prosecutors have to exercise their independence is controversial across the political spectrum. Equally contentious are the reactions to prosecutors who use discretion, from state legislation curbing prosecutorial independence, to public outcry, to removal of prosecutors from their roles. Stetson Law Review is seeking Articles or Essays speaking to pressing issues at the heart of prosecutorial independence.
Additionally, white collar crime is ever evolving as it intersects with advances and changes in technology, regulation, and politics, among other areas. Stetson Law Review is seeking Articles or Essays exploring current trends and transformations in white collar crime. Prosecutorial independence pieces and white collar crime pieces need not discuss both subject areas, but all Articles and Essays should highlight current considerations in the respective area.
There will be approximately three to four panels at the Symposium and the Stetson Law Review will curate the panels pursuant to subject matter cohesiveness of the selected submissions. Stetson Law Review members are delighted to include a dinner the night before the Symposium and reasonable travel and lodging expenses will also be covered.
Stetson Law Review is only accepting Symposium speakers who commit to writing an Article or Essay for one of Stetson Law Review’s two Symposium Issues which have estimated publication goals for the Fall and Winter of the 2025-2026 school year. If you are interested in writing for and speaking at our 2025 Symposium please submit a brief abstract to Stetson Law Review via Scholastica or to the email lreview@law.stetson.edu by July 1, 2024.
A Stetson Law Review committee of students in conjunction with our Symposium faculty advisor will review all submissions. Stetson Law Review will notify selected writers by early August 2024. We look forward to reviewing thought-provoking submissions on current controversies and trends in prosecutorial independence and white collar crime.
